DON'T MISS THE SALE

The first day of the sale has seen some of the major dealers in the Industry come to view the merchandise available.

We have sold out of some types of gems....like the mukti-coloured sapphires. There are other lots that have been recalculated as stones were sold, but the selection is still quite remarkable. It is possible to still purchase partial lots.

We do have some reserve bids on lots, but it isn't too late to make yours. The sale will be open to the Trade tomorrow from 8am until 7pm.

GEMSTONE TREATMENTS INFORMATION

Coloured stones are often subjected to various treatments to improve their appearance. Treatments are considered usual and customary practices when properly disclosed and when done without intent to defraud the consumer. Many treatments are stable and do not require special care. Others may require special care. When a treatment is detected and considered not to be usual and customary it will be so noted by this appraiser. Some treatments are reversible and re-treatable. It may be beyond the scope of an appraisal to determine exact treatment methods or the amount of treatment present. Some treatments require sophisticated equipment to identify, not found in a standard gemological laboratory.

All treatments should be disclosed to the purchaser. Market values are generally based on these treatments. Unless otherwise stated, the coloured stones for sale are assumed to have been subjected to one or more of these treatments, when it is common for that species or variety, and valued accordingly. Treatments, when detected will be noted on the appraisal. Untreated gemstones, when detected and when the value is affected, will be noted. Unstable treatments or other treatments that adversely affect the value will also be noted in the appraisal when detected.

The following list describes some common gemstone treatments. It is not inclusive of all treatments.

Gemstone Treatment Frequency Stability Care of Gem
Ruby Heat, poss. residue Usually Excellent Normal
Sapphire Heat Usually Excellent Normal
Emerald Oil, opticon or other Usually Fair to good Caution

Tanzanite Heat Always Excellent Caution
Pearl Bleach Usually Very good Caution

Richard Benaim

Richard has been in the Jewellery industry since 1969. He started working in a Jewellery factory part time while finishing school. In that period, he learned different facets of jewellery making.
Over the years, Richard worked for some the largest Jewellery Companies in Canada. He became involved not only in the making, but also in the designing and marketing of different lines of Jewellery.

While employed by one company that was supplying most of the TV Shopping Networks in Canada & US, Richard was always behind the scene in creating product for these Shopping Networks. In 1998 Richard was put on air as a guest on the Nashville Home Shopping, and it developed into his own show in Canada at The Shopping Channel. In 2008, he started to sell product on The Australian Shopping Network ( TVSN ) and has his own product line and show (Richard Benaim Designer Jewellery Collection)

In 2002 , Richard decided to start his own company (EuroJewels). His success was supported by The Shopping Channel, by providing him with a show and the opportunity to appear as one of their Jewellery Experts. This meant that he not only represented his line but provided the opportunity to host shows for other vendors.

Since then, Richard has expanded his extensive Jewellery line always trying to stay ahead of the trends, whether with designs or partnering with stone cutters and designers to come up with unique cuts of gemstone.

Perhaps his greatest advantage is that most of the product is manufactured in Toronto, Canada sourcing Gems from all over the world, which results in complete control of quality of gemstone selection, designs and production. This results in the jewellery line being extremely competitive in today’s market and a unique understanding of the current marketplace.
